Role
Nick Schmaltz centers the top line between Clayton Keller and Vincent Trocheck and plays on the first power-play unit. He leads the Mammoth in goals this season with 6 in 7 games, 4 of them on the power play, and he has 9 points. Coach André Tourigny said after the Oct. 6 win in New Jersey, "He's so good everywhere on the ice."
Outlook
Schmaltz scored a career-high 33 goals in 2025-26 and finished with 74 points, up from 63 the year before. He has signed an eight-year, $64 million extension, per theScore. He is 30, so eight years is a long commitment.
Our take: 6 goals on 25 shots is a 24 percent clip, and nobody holds that. He will still score more than he ever has, because the shot volume is real and the power play keeps finding him. We would rather bank 35 goals than count on 50.
